Frequently asked questions.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
In the state of Maryland, you do not need a referral to see of physical therapist. This is known as “direct access”. If you question your need to see a doctor, please call us to discuss.
Do you only see members of Blue Crab Fitness?
No! Anyone, member or not, is able to be seen by our physical therapist. Sessions could take place at Blue Crab Fitness or in your home.
What will the first visit look like?
During the initial evaluation, your therapist will spend time listening to your medical history and map out your current state of pain or disfunction. They will then perform a comprehensive physical assessment around your painful or limited movements. Together, you and your therapist will form a plan for recovery.
What should I wear?
We would like you to wear clothing that allows you to move, and that you don’t mind sweating in! If you are coming in for a lower body complaint, shorts are helpful. If you are coming in for an upper body complaint and are female, please wear something that can expose the shoulder blade.
Can I use my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)?
Yes!
What insurance do you accept?
At this time, we are only in a relationship with Medicare. Other companies may be added in the future. Please call to discuss.
Why don’t you take my insurance?
Current insurance reimbursement regulations force many companies to co-treat patients and denies many performance-based treatments that Resilience PT offer. We believe you deserve better and refuse to let an insurance company dictate your care.
Can I bill my insurance for reimbursement?
This will depend on your specific type of insurance plan, but mostly yes! Non-Medicare patients can send in a “self-claim” for their treatments at our clinic.
We can easily prepare a super-bill for you, which gives you all the information you need to submit.
The best way to find out the amount of reimbursement is to call your insurance company and ask about “out of network physical therapy” expenses sent in via self-claims.
